According to reports, Philip Hammond could be moving his Welsh Terrier, Rex into Number 11 Downing Street.

This is significant, because Whitehall is home to three cats – Larry, Palmerston and now Gladstone.

According to experts, Welsh Terriers typically have a high prey drive, which means they will chase anything they class as prey, from rats to cats.

The Spectator reports the Chancellor of the Exchequer is worried about moving him in – as true to his breed, the terrier has been known to chase cats.

He would be introducing Rex to a fragile ecosystem – there is a turf war escalating between Larry and Palmerston, causing sore paws, flying fur and much yowling.
