WHITHER the doom-mongers now? Following one dire warning after another about the consequences of Britain leaving the EU, the purveyors of Project Fear are looking more foolish by the day.

Good news continues to flood in: Britain’s economy grew by 0.5 per cent in the third quarter and now Japan’s Nissan has announced it is to build its new Qashqai car in Sunderland.

And so where, you might ask, is a word of contrition from those who warned that Britain would fall off a cliff outside the EU, especially those in the Treasury?

Their silence has been deafening. Indeed, it is starting to look as if they are actually disappointed that Britain is thriving, and that is before we have even formally left.
